Proposal ideas: for the outdoorsy
It’s no secret that I love the outdoors.
If you're looking to take your proposal beyond the ordinary, the mountains provide the perfect backdrop for a memorable and romantic engagement. But you don’t have to travel far to get stunning photos. You don’t need a “secret spot” to create something unforgettable… you just need the right setup, timing, and intention. If you’re thinking about proposing and want it to feel intentional, reach out and I’ll help you map it out.
Desert picnic proposals
Best for: couples that want something intimate and romantic, customization available with curated details
Pack a cozy blanket and some throw pillows, snacks and treats, and head to your favorite outdoor location. Lay back and enjoy the moment. Then when the moment is right and the sun is dipping below the sky pop the question!
I’ve created many picnic proposals all over AZ and beyond. DM me on instagram and let me know where you are located and let’s plan something epic!
Camping + cozy campfires
Best for: intentional, unplugged mo outdoorsy, create the moment for just you two
There is no shortage of breathtaking camping spots I’ve pinned and explored since I moved to Arizona. What better way to create this beautiful moment than to escape to a secluded camping spot with a clear view of the sunset. Set up a cozy campfire, share stories, and when the moment is right, present the ring.
Mountain viewpoints
Best for: adventurous couples
They say the hardest climbs have the best views, if you are someone who loves a good metaphor like me—consider hiking to a beautiful lookout to propose. I’ve done this on multiple occasions, and it’s how I got engaged!
My fiance planned a sunrise hike at Tolmie Peak and hired our amazing photographer from Washington: Tonie Christine.
Sedona proposals
My first proposal I shot was out in the red rock nature of Sedona. We we’re hiking in January and when we got to the top of Cathedral Rock I was taking some photos when this man came up to me asking about my camera. He said to me quietly that he tried to find a photographer but that they all declined due to weather and asked if I would take photos because he was about to propose. We shooed away some of the people so I could get the perfect shot of him getting down on one knee.
I truly stumbled into this proposal and I loved it so much I started this business.
How to choose the right outdoor proposal
Do you want privacy or a “wow” view?
Are you more spontaneous or a planner?
Do you want photos to feel styled or raw?
Nature provides a canvas for the most unforgettable proposals. Since I am an adventure-er first, I am always finding new spots that would be perfect for proposals, and I like to keep a running list of lesser-known spots I share with my clients.
Whether you choose a spot in the mountains, or on your favorite beach, an outdoor proposal adds a touch of magic to this significant moment in your lives. So, lace up your hiking boots, pack a picnic, and let the great outdoors witness the beginning of your lifelong adventure together.
